Creating a wildlife habitat within your landscape design has many benefits. Besides creating a tranquil setting that supports the animals within your ecosystem, a wildlife habitat also tends to be lower maintenance by using plants that thrive in the region. The National Wildlife Federation gives a set of criteria that determines whether a design qualifies as a wildlife habitat, and each piece plays a role in attracting and sustaining wildlife.
Creating an attractive and functional landscape around apartment buildings presents unique challenges. As with any residential setting, the goal is to create a beautiful, warm, and welcoming environment. However, unlike residential homes, apartments house far more people and therefore require a landscape that is capable of withstanding high amounts of traffic from residents, visitors, and passersby.
Considerations for Selecting Plants for Apartment Building Landscapes
Following on our earlier work installing the landscape at the new Brightview South River senior living community, E-Landscape has now been selected to perform ongoing maintenance at the facility, located on Lee Airpark Drive in Edgewater. Brightview South River is Brightview's seventh senior living community in Maryland and its first assisted living community in Anne Arundel County. The community has 64 residences designated for assisted living and 26 in a separate wing for people with Alzheimer's disease and other cognitive impairments. The residences include studios, one-bedroom apartments and two bedroom apartments.
